ROOKIES

Recently, I watch a dorama called Rookies which is based from a manga with the same title..its story is a little bit like *Gokusen since it is about some delinquents and a passionate teacher..however the difference is in the baseball that become the goal for this delinquents. Personally, I like Gokusen because the story is funny even though from Gokusen 1 to 3 the stories are almost similar..but for Rookies,,I will say that I love it!!! I laugh a lot when I watch this…even though the students are not as *ikemen as Gokusen but the way they dress and act really fit into become delinquents. Well,,there are some of them which are good looking, but there also some of them who have strange hair or behaviour…

This dorama is about some delinquents from the Baseball Team of Futagotamagawa School which are reaaallyy bad,,they love to smoke, fight and skipping class. One day a really passionate and idealistic teacher is coming to their school…he intends to make those delinquents play baseball again and realize their dreams..This delinquents before love to play baseball,,but because they started a fight with their opponet during a game, the baseball team was banned for some time..it made them lose hope and felt that it is useless for doing an effort. However, the teacher is never tired to push this students back to the field again..he believes that every body has a dream and must pursue it with all the might they have..Of course,,it is not easy to make those delinquents back,,luckily this teacher is really good in martial arts so it is not a matter every time the students show their fists to him hehehe..One by one, the students realize that they still want to play baseball again..they even have a goal to aim for *Koshien..

Here are some characters and the actors for this dorama:

 Kawato Koichi..played by Sato Ryuta, I’ve seen him in Bambino and Tsubasa no Oreta Tenshitachi and this is the first time I see him as a main actor in a dorama..The character of this teacher is sloppy, honest, passionate, energetic, always smile, stupid and believe on his own students..Just like *Yankumi, he is very idealistic and super care for his students,,he also work very hard to support the baseball team and will do anything to protect his students dreams (I think it’s hard to find this kind of teacher in real life hehehe..) Even though he is very good at karate but sometimes he act stupidly. Reciting a famous quote is one of his hobby..but his own quote sometimes sound so old fashioned..

 Aniya Keiichi..played by Ichihara Hayato, he played in Water Boys 2 where the character is the opposite with his role as Aniya.. Aniya, we can say that he is the leader of this delinquents..he always make this scary face expression with furrowing his brow and walk in arrogant way. He is the most stubborn and has a high pride so it is not easy to make him play baseball again..however he is actually the most talented player of all the member of baseball club and pursuing really hard for Koshien. As a pitcher he can throw a fastball but he also often make a home run every time he swing his bat. I personally like to see him in here than in Water Boys..his character makes him looks so cool hehehe…

 Mikoshiba Toru..played by Koide Koisuke, haha..this is the Masumi-chan in Nodame Cantabile but now he is’nt playing a girly character again  hehehe..He is such a good actor since he can act whether as a girl or as a boy hahaha.. Mikoshiba is the nicest and the kindest of all the baseball member..he doesn’t like to fight nor use strange hair or clothes..but he still hang out with those delinquents because they take him as a friend even though sometimes he get bullied by others since he is the weakest..He is also the first person who has the initiative to revive the baseball club again because he really loves to play baseball and hopes that all of his friends can play along with him. You can say that he is very calm and sometimes takes everything seriously,,even though he is not very good at baseball but he has the effort to become better and the responsibility as a captain..

 Shinjo Kei..played by Shirota Yu..first I saw him as Tezuka in Prince of Tennis which is not fit at all for him (kind of hate it too when he played Tezuka role), and than I saw him at HanaKimi which was looked better than becoming Tezuka..but now as Shinjo Kei,,I think I like it hehehe..His character is also stubborn just like Aniya and he always resolve everything with a fight, however he is actually very care for the friendship,,he really treasures the bond that he have that’s why he really hate when someone is betraying him. I think he looks very cool in here and handsome too hehehe..His figure is big and tall so that’s why when he is standing among the others, he is just like a giant haha..

 Sekikawa Shuta..played by Nakao Akiyoshi,,I usually see him as a clumsy, naive, shy or nice boy but now he is so good as a delinquent.. His character is just like another delinquent,,full of anger, strange hairstlye (mohawk), and hate when someone insult him..Once he was a shoplifter,,but now he is the fastest runner among all of the player. He is also very nice among his friends and always try to give his best.

 Wakana Tomochika..played by Takaoka Sousuke, Actually this is the first time I see this guy in dorama and he is the husband of Miyazaki Aoi hoho..Wakana is the mood maker in the team..he always talk loudly and impulsive..but he is not someone who easily give up, instead he will make an effort much more than anybody else. His position as a catcher is considered the most fit for him. However, I don’t like the hairstyle which is really make him looks like a delinquent..

 Hiratsuka Taira..played by Kiritani Kenta..His character is the most hilarious in the team..I can’t stop laughing when I see him..he is sooooo funny, ridiculous and totally *baka.. He always trying to be the center at the team but he always end up becoming the bottom of the team..Even his motive for playing baseball just because his crush is becoming manager for the team hahaha..However, he can hit a home run when the ball is thrown straight to his face just because he hit the ball using his reflect move..Every thing that he does just make me burst into laughter because he always act stupidly,,and he even bring *futon to school so he can sleep everytime he want hahaha…This guy is really amusing, and he makes this dorama is fun to watch.

There are more characters in this dorama that I can’t tell it one by one but all of them become a great team through effort and hardwork. I really like the messages that they are trying to give through this, such as realize your dreams and pursue it, never give up and value the friendship. It is a good dorama to watch because it could increase your spirit, full of excitement and hilarious..Actually I haven’t finished watching this hehehe..so can they reach the Koshien?? can they fulfill their dreams?? Well..just watch it..^_^

Gokusen = a dorama with story about a woman who is actually heir of yakuza clan that became a teacher for delinquents.

Yankumi = the heroine in Gokusen which has role as a teacher.

Ikemen = pretty boys / handsome boys.

Koshien = It is an annual baseball tournament for high school in Japan where the final will be held at Hanshin Koshien Stadium in Nishinomiya. This event is very popular and considered as a step for becoming a professional. For more info, see this.
